We had model maker Stephen Atkinson pay us a visit and show us a few of his scratch built models.
The audience were allowed to handle some of the displays, considering they cost from £2000-£50,000 upwards
The 'man' himself. Stephen started making accurate scale
models "after" he retired.
This is a Bugatti model without the bodywork
A different model, this time with the inticate bodywork
Wheels were made including casting the rubber tyres
and the bodywork is held on with bolt and wire detailing
A spoked wheel, each spoke accurately positioned around the rim
Interior handmade detail in an MG TC
Every detail is measured on the real thing and reproduced in minature
This is a toolbox for a steam engine, measures about 50mm long
and even the padlock was made (don't think it works though)
Stephen's first attempt.. a mk1 austin mini. Believe it or not it took
1st prize in a National Woodworking competition.
All of Stephens models entered after that, took 1st prize

it taking off ).
